It's easy to transfer your web site from your current hosting
provider to FastVirtual. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth, seamless transfer without
downtime.

Select Your Hosting Plan
If you don't already have a FastVirtual account, first create your
account. This simply involves entering a username and password for
control panel access and providing your contact information.
Once you've created your account, log in and add your preferred
web web hosting plan. This will be immediately activated and listed as
an active service in your control panel.

|
Upload Your Web Site
Check your control panel for the IP address of your new hosting
plan and use this IP address to upload your web site.
Use your favorite FTP program to upload your site. Enter your IP
address as the FTP host and your account username/password for authentication.
If you created your web site using Microsoft FrontPage, you should
first enable FrontPage extensions from your account control panel.
Allow five minutes for the extensions to become active, then upload
your web site using the FrontPage "Publish" facility. Enter the IP
address as the publish destination (http://youripaddress/)
and enter your account username and password when prompted for authentication.
Once you've finished uploading your web site, point your web browser
to your IP address (http://youripaddress/) and confirm everything
works correctly.

Point Your Domain Name
If you registered your domain name through FastVirtual, our
name servers were specified by default. If you previously changed
this entry to point to another hosting provider, simply
log in to your control panel and update your domain name DNS entry
to point to our name servers as follows:
- Primary DNS: NS1.FASTVIRTUAL.COM (72.1.32.185)
- Secondary DNS: NS2.FASTVIRTUAL.COM (54.82.141.168)
If you registered your domain name through another registrar, the
process is likely to be similar, although
you should see your registrar's web site for specific instructions.
Once the DNS change has filtered through the Internet (usually
within 24 hours for domain names registered through FastVirtual)
the transfer will be be complete. In the interim your web site will continue to load
from your previous hosting provider, ensuring an uninterrupted service
for your visitors.

International Domain Names
Customers with country-specific domain names (i.e. www.yourdomain.co.uk)
need to apply to their local NIC to update their name servers to point
to FastVirtual. The procedure is very simple (usually completed via a
control panel on the registrar's web site), but you will need details of
our name servers (DNS), provided above.

Please see our
International
Domain Name FAQ for further information about international domain
names, including details on how to contact your local NIC. Answers to

FAQ.
