Uploading Files with FTP

Manage and upload files using
your favorite FTP client.

All FastVirtual web hosting plans include one or more private FTP accounts for managing and uploading files.

Configure Your FTP Software

Use the following information to configure your FTP software:

Server/Hostname: ftp.yourname.com
Username or ID: yourname.com
Password: {your account password}
Server Type: Auto Detect/UNIX

Note: Step-by-step configuration instructions are provided for most popular FTP clients. Visit the "Hosting" area or your account control panel, click "Manage FTP accounts", and select the "FTP How-To".

FrontPage Users Should Not Use FTP

FrontPage includes its own upload feature, which synchronizes files and appends details of changes to FrontPage configuration files whenever "publishing" occurs. If you are using FrontPage, you should avoid accessing your site using an FTP program, as this may corrupt the FrontPage extensions. Advanced users that need to use FTP should not edit ".htaccess" and "postinfo.html" files, as well as all files beginning with "_vti_".

Step-by-step instructions for uploading and managing your web site using FrontPage are provided in the Microsoft FrontPage Guide.

Add and Manage FTP Accounts

To add and manage FTP accounts, visit the "Hosting" area of your account control panel, and sect "Manage FTP accounts".
