All FastVirtual web hosting plans include support for cron tasks.
Cron is a UNIX® module that permits commands to be run at predetermined
times or intervals. By using cron, you can automate tasks that might be
better handled during off-peak times.
Scheduling Cron Tasks
As telnet access is not permitted, the cron task must be included
in a
CGI script. The script must also return a valid header.
To invoke a cron task, access "Developer's tools" from the
"Hosting" area of your account control panel, and select "Cron jobs".
You may specify then the location of your cron script, and the time
and date that the script should be invoked.
Note: Resource limits for cron tasks are identical to those for
standard CGI scripts
Cron Log Files
Cron logs are
retained for seven days, and are stored in the "logs" directory,
one level above your document root ("htdocs"). Cron log files are named "cronYYYYMMDD.log".
