Why should I choose FastVirtual over another hosting provider?

How long does it take for my new account to be activated?

Your FastVirtual account is immediately activated upon completion of the signup process. You can then log in to your account control panel and add your chosen Web Site Builder plan. If you selected to pay for your account by credit card, your Web Site Builder plan will be immediately activated. If you selected another payment method, your plan will be activated when we receive your payment. We therefore recommend that you initially choose to pay by credit card.

If I upgrade to another Web Site Builder plan, will I loose my settings?

No. All your settings are maintained through upgrades, including all web site content, any configured goodies and all mailbox settings.

Do you offer email forwards or autoresponders?

Yes. All email-enabled Web Site Builder plans include access to FastVirtual's email management system, which includes email forwards, autoresponders and advanced spam filtering.

Do I have to pay extra for email forwards or autoresponders?

No. All email enabled Web Site Builder plans include unlimited email forwards and autoresponders as standard. For further information, please see the Email Overview.

Can I include custom CGI scripts on my Web Site Builder site?

No. Web Site Builder plans are intended to provide a site building and hosting solution for customers that are unfamiliar with web site development. If you require this feature, please see our available web hosting plans.

Do Web Site Builder plans include a secure server (SSL)?

No. 70 Page Web Site Builder Plus plans are designed to integrate with third-party payment service providers, such as PayPal or VeriSign. Therefore, secure transactions are conducted on the PSP's servers. As with the above FAQ, if you require this feature, please see our available web hosting services.

How do I change my Web Site Builder plan from one package to another? Can
I switch from a basic plan to a domain plan?  Can I change my account name
or domain name?

You can upgrade your account from your account control panel, without the need to sign-up or upload files again. There is no setup fee to upgrade your account from a basic (yourname.fastvirtual.com) plan to a domain (yourname.com) plan. Changing an account name or domain name on an existing account incurs a $25 setup fee, plus any applicable domain registration fees. New domain names can be quickly and easily registered from your account control panel.

I want to put my email address on my site. How can I protect this from spammers?

Will FastVirtual host my site if I have offensive or pornographic content?

No. Although we respect the First Amendment rights of individuals, we are not prepared to host sites which we consider to be objectionable. Adult-oriented sites attract too many visitors, too quickly, and this would adversely affect both our support staff and other customers.

Can I send spam from a FastVirtual account?

No. FastVirtual defines spam as mass, unsolicited email messages. Any account that sends spam will be terminated immediately. The offending account will be charged "Theft of Service" fines up to $0.50 per message, and will also be billed a $5.00 processing fee for each complaint received.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), personal and business checks, cashier's checks (bank drafts), money orders, and international money orders. Payments must be in U.S. currency, and payments by check or money order must be drawn on a U.S. bank. We accept wire transfers for amounts over two hundred dollars; a $10.00 processing fee applies. Because we do not activate new accounts until payment is received, we recommend that you initially pay using a credit card.

What is the difference between an email forward (alias) and an email
account?

An email account is a mailbox that stores and sends email messages. An email forward (also known as an "email alias") is simply a pointer to an existing email address. Email forwards can point to email accounts hosted by FastVirtual, or to 3rd party email addresses. For detailed information about the various email options, please see the email overview.

Do you provide toll-free phone support?

Can I change the domain name for an existing Web Site Builder plan?

Yes. Web Site Builder plans with both basic account names (yourname.fastvirtual.com) and domain names (yourname.com) can be changed. The process is subject to a one-time $25 setup fee.

New domain names also incur domain registration fees.  Domain names can be easily registered from the "Domains" area of your account control panel.

How do I upgrade or modify my service?

Use use your account control panel to instantly add or change account options and services. If you don't see an automatic way to perform the appropriate changes, please contact us.
