services, including
privacy settings, a configurable one-page web, the choice of "domain reserved",
"domain for sale" or "under construction"
page, a customizable one-page web, frame forwarding, URL forwarding,

If
I register my domain name through FastVirtual, who actually owns it?
You own your domain name. When we register your new domain name, you are
specified as the administrative and billing contact, as well
as the registrant. The registrant is the actual owner of the domain
name.
For specific details, please see the following documents:

the web?

and most of the web will see your new domain within 24 hours. The
domain name will work its way through to the rest of the world
within a few days.
Do
I get a "domain reserved" page with my domain?
Domain names registered through FastVirtual include the choice
of a "domain reserved", "under construction", or "domain for
sale" page. These pages contain your domain name and information about
FastVirtual's services.
The default "domain reserved" page is displayed until you either
select an alternate holding page, customize your
one-page web, enter name server (DNS) information, or select URL or
frame forwarding options.
What
do the domain reserved pages look
like?
Please view the following sample pages -- your actual domain name
will be displayed in place of "your-domain-name.com":
What
is a name server?
A name server is a computer on the Internet that resolves domain
names into IP addresses. Your domain name must specify at least one
name server in order for the name to resolve correctly.
When you register your domain name through FastVirtual, our name
servers are specified by default. If you wish to take advantage of
our value-added features, or to add hosting services for this domain
name, then the name servers should remain at their default settings.
If you wish to point your domain name to a third party hosting
provider, you should contact them for details of their name servers.
Then simply access the "Domains" area of your account control panel,
select the domain name you wish to edit, choose "Name servers" and
enter your hosting provider's name server information.
Can
my domain name have its own name servers?
Yes. To add name servers to your domain name (i.e. ns1.yourdomain.com),
log in to your account control panel, enter the "Domains" section and
and select the domain name you wish to edit. Click on "Change name servers"
and select "Register, change, or delete name servers".
Will
FastVirtual notify me when my domain name needs to be renewed?
FastVirtual will notify you by email (and by postal mail, if that
option is selected)
45 days before your domain name expires. A further notice will be sent 15 days before
the domain expires.
If payment is not received by the expiration
date, the domain is deactivated. If payment is still not
received 30 days following the expiration date, the domain is
deleted and is made publicly available for registration.
To ensure renewal notices and invoices reach the intended person
in good time, please make sure your contact information is kept current and
accurate.
Can
my domain name be renewed at any time, or must I wait until I receive a
renewal notice?
Domain names can be renewed at any time, for
up to 10 years. To renew your domain name, simply
access the "Domains" area of your account control panel, select
the domain you wish to renew, and click "Renew domain".
Does
FastVirtual send promotional email to customers? Does FastVirtual
publish customers' email addresses?
FastVirtual respects your privacy. We will not send
email that is not required, or that has not been requested. We will not disclose
details or web site URLs of our customers, nor will we
publish your email address or contact information, except in strict
compliance
with ICANN regulations.
ICANN requires that registrars share information with registry administrators, escrow agents, WHOIS
service providers, auditors, other registrars, and ICANN itself, through a publicly
accessible WHOIS database.
Unless you opt out, we are required to include your domain name in
the WHOIS database. However, the default setting for all
domain names registered through FastVirtual is opt out.
If you wish to opt in, visit the "My
Account" area of your account control panel, select "Account
preferences" and change the WHOIS privacy setting to "opt in".
For additional information, please see the following documents:
Can
I prevent my personal information from being shown in WHOIS results?
Your contact details (including your email address, phone number,
and mailing address) must be publicly available via the WHOIS
database as a condition of domain name registration.
However, to protect you from unsolicited mail and spam, your account
control panel includes the option to hide your email address in the
WHOIS database. By enabling this option, a proxy address (@emailaddressprotection.com)
is used in place of your actual email address. Email is then
forwarded from the proxy to your actual email address, thereby
keeping your email address private.
To enable this option, access the "My Account" area of your account
control panel, select “Account preferences”, and check
the email protection option.
Please note that you must ensure your domain name contact
information is true and accurate. Providing false or inaccurate
information is in direct violation of the domain registration
agreement, and could result in your domain name being suspended or
terminated.
