Streaming Media Support

All FastVirtual web hosting plans support HTTP streaming (aka pseudo-streaming).

This method enables you to stream many different media file types from your web site, including Real, QuickTime, Windows Media and TrueSpeech audio and video files.

Multiple simultaneous streams are supported, with the only limitation being your own accepted levels of bandwidth usage.

Streaming media files from your web site allows visitors to watch movie clips (or listen to audio) without having to wait for the entire file to download. When the stream commences, the total download time is estimated, based on the user's transfer rate (connection speed). Playback starts when enough of the file has been downloaded to ensure the remainder can download in the background without interrupting playback. For users with broadband connections, this usually means almost instantaneous playback.
